Tomatoes

Storage: For best flavor, store tomatoes at room temperature. Below 50 degrees, the volatile compounds in tomatoes are destroyed and the texture can be damaged. Tomatoes can be frozen whole for later use in cooked dishes. Just run the frozen tomatoes under warm water to remove skins before chopping and using like canned tomatoes.

Uses:  Salads, sauces…what can’t tomatoes be used in? Roasting whole or halved tomatoes at 350 degrees until the skins pick up a few dark spots adds a smoky flavor and reduces the tomatoes down to a delicious sauce.
